Traditional Culture in Shen Yun Impresses Paris Audience

2019-01-18    0 views
From grand, historic buildings to humble street corners, Paris is a city picturesque to the last detail. Since the 17th century, it has been one of Europe's major centers of commerce, fashion, and the arts.

Audience members who watched Shen Yun Performing Arts on opening night Jan. 16, and said the elements they saw rang with the soul of China.

"So very surprised. I didn't know what to expect," said Laurent Giraudel, COO at Natixis Investment Managers. "Beautiful choreographies, very nice scenery with the video behind it. And synchronization of everyone that is absolutely wonderful. And beautiful colors and very well-crafted costumes."

"I saw angels. I felt the presence of the angels who were transmitting the culture," said Leo Carruthers, an emeritus professor of Paris-Sorbonne University. "That doesn't surprise me, because in many cultures, we find the idea that culture, language, and arts, come from heaven. And that's because it speaks to something that's inside of man. It's his spiritual part."

"The sets are very well done, we have the feeling that the characters come from heaven in fact," said Odile Neuviale, a marketing director of L'Oréal. "And we understand very well the link between all art and the divine. That's right. It feels like we were in another world, that it's going to be hard to get out of here. And I think we're going to keep this dream in our minds for a very, very long time, that's it."

"I am touched by this, a lot," Carruthers added. "I think they are right. It is certainly a very good thing to introduce the whole world to ancient China, traditional China, and what still exists of this culture that is a little hidden, that we do not know very well in the West. But it's great to know that it still exists."

"So it's quite an accomplishment, that's it, it's both harmonious and pleasant to see," said Michel Dupuis, president at Cojemial Conseils. "Full of color and full of joy, so it's very beautiful, and really it traces back, we can see the ancient history of the millenniums of Chinese culture."

Shen Yun Shows Connection to Divine, Says Prince Jean d’Orléans
Della.sun
2019-01-18    0 views
Prince Jean d’Orléans, Duke of Vendome, is the second son of Prince Henri, the Count of Paris and Duke of France, and Duchess Marie Therese of Württemberg. He is first in line to succeed the French Throne. He watched Shen Yun Performing Arts in Paris on Jan. 16, and said he was touched by the spirituality of the performance.

"I think it's very good, we need this today. We're too materialistic, so we need to escape a little. We need poetry and then we need this relationship, that's it, with the sky, with the divine, and that's it and everything we've seen there makes a bit of a connection between the two," said Prince Jean d’Orléans. "And I think it's important, man shouldn't lose sight of where he comes from, and here we are, if you're attached to someone who, you think they've had a creation, this is a divine being, I think it's important for us to remember it."

Since the 17th century, Paris has been one of Europe's major centers of finance, fashion, and the arts. However, during the Paris Commune uprising, buildings were reduced to ashes and traditional culture was nearly destroyed. This same system of oppression has been employed by the CCP in its political activities since it seized power in China.

According to its program book, Shen Yun’s mission is to revitalize China’s 5,000-year-old culture and history for today’s audiences.

"I was moved to see that today, Shen Yun can do such shows," Prince Jean d’Orléans added. "Because it is a period, in fact, we don't talk much about the different peoples, different ethnic groups and their cultures, and, I find that it is a little contrary to what we are used to seeing and hearing today. And here we are presented with a multitude of stories, a multitude of peoples, a multitude of cultures, ethnic groups, traditional costumes, poems, particular stories on different regions of China and I find it very, very interesting and it brings a lot I find."

"When you don't know what your past is, it's hard to know where you're going," said Prince Jean d’Orléans. "And I think that in a world that doesn't have a reference, tradition and culture are very important. And then when you have 5,000 years of culture, it's even stronger.

"Because we are too busy with everyday life, here are the things that are not beautiful, and then we escape into another universe and with color, with poetry and humor, at the very opposite of what we are experiencing in daily life," Prince Jean d’Orléans added.

Shen Yun 'Culture Refound'

I thought the performers were outstanding.

I thought each one of them
was just as good as the other.

I thought the individual dances

I preferred some over others,
but generally they were all good.

The musicians were fabulous,
and I thought the singers were also good.
It's different than anything else.
The dancing and the choreography

is incredible. The costuming...
I think its ingenious

how they did the backdrops this time.
I've never seen anything like that.

It was just a great performance.
It was the best that New York City

could ever experience.
It was lively, it was spiritual.

It's what just raised the spirits
of all of the people here.
I think the whole thing was
so well put together you can't pull it apart.
From ancient folklore and legends, up to modern day stories based on real events, uplifting messages of divinity and hope were imparted and expressed to the audience through traditional Chinese dance.
Touching.
People are being persecuted for

saying the truth in what they believe,
and having to flee families and friends.

Since 1999 up to today, the communist regime in China has persecuted the spiritual practice of Falun Gong or Falun Dafa, for refusing to give up their beliefs and upholding the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
That's what we all should be following.

It is a basic religion, it's a basic spirituality,
it's just a matter of goodness

and goodness should be in all of us.
You know it's a shame that
[not only] the Chinese people

but the world in general
has lost some of the culture from China

because it's being suppressed.
So I thought this show

introduces people to a culture
that needs to be refound.

What I learned is you've got to bring the children.
I plan to bring my six granddaughters back.
Yeah, my grandchildren.
They love the dancing

so that’s why I took them.
And the experience has been wonderful.

Shen Yun delivers Anticipation and Satisfaction

We’ve been looking forward
to it for quite some time

Looking forward to the experience of Shen Yun, and expressing satisfaction after the anticipation was a common theme among audience members.

and it hasn't failed to really impress us.
In terms of performance, the dancing

and the technology, really very,
very fascinating.

I'm always interested in history and I like the
culture the ethnicity and the dancing

is beautiful but I think the stories are really
fascinating and it's interesting to me to hear

the historical backgrounds, in the different
areas in China and relates back to it.

For me it really was to see pre-communist
China, basically to see the richness,

the spirituality, the dance, the culture. It just
shows a very different side of China.

The song at the end was really beautiful.
The tenor.

First of all his singing was excellent, but also
being able to see the words through the song

and the background was really inspiring.

So the music was beautiful in and of itself,
but being able to scroll through the words

and see the meaning behind the song,
was really very very touching.

Faith and spirituality were popular themes that were appreciated through the artform.

We wanted to come and see it, so we
booked like two months ago, or three

when they first started the promoting. So I
couldn't wait until today

so it was like a great experience, and I
appreciate the presentation of a culture

that I don't know so much about except the
art part of it

so this was more a wholesome thing and I
felt really empowered by the spirituality

that's in the performance, and there is deep
metaphors over there, which I sensed

and I felt, you know with the colors and all
the symbolism there

I think that's very magnificent thing.

Faith manifest itself in arts so that is I think
that is extremely meaningful we all need that

you know art as a form of faith so this is
really what I took out

from what I've seen today. The spirituality,
you know that you have to have faith

in a greater being, a creator for every
creation, that gives us purpose

that gives us something more in our life to
look for, for a more divine purpose in life.

The performance struck a chord in the hearts of those those that attended, earning deep respect and reverence.
My birthday present I wanted to come last
year we can get tickets

so we're very happy to be here this year.

Very exciting to be here and to enjoy all the
magic that the show has to offer

the color is great performances great
we're very excited to be here.

It's very inspirational, it really is.
It was very touching.

Especially when the gentleman was singing
about heaven, and it just you know

it strikes a chord, you're
like wow that's so true

we really have to stop and sit back
and watch what you know look around us

and really appreciate everything. Very good,
yes very nice, and we're learning so much

which is really important now in this world,
especially today.

Well it's very inspirational, very spiritual,
and the coordination of the dances

the choreography was on point.

Iceland’s Northern Lights- Beautiful Sight
Della.sun

Spending a calm winter night under an Arctic sky lit up by the Northern Lights is an often-cited 'bucket-list' experience and among the reasons why more people are visiting northern Iceland.

The remote region at the edge of the Arctic Circle is one of the best places in the world to spot the colorful phenomenon.

The Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, occur when magnetic solar winds slam into the Earth's magnetic field, causing atoms in the upper atmosphere to glow.

With many tourists already out on the roads, police in Iceland are reminding visitors to put safety first and not to underestimate the challenging winter conditions as they search for the Northern Lights.

14. SOUNDBITE (English) Johannes Sigfusson, Akureyri Police Superintendent:
"We could say we have saying in Iceland, that the weather changes every five minutes. And this is something that is unusual for many of our foreign guests. The weather and the road conditions change accordingly. It can go from being a dry road to being an icy and slippery road in a matter of minutes."

Mayor Bill de Blasio, gave his State of the City speech at the Symphony Space Theatre on Jan. 10.

Chief Chaplain of the New York City Police Department Rabbi Alvin Mass opened by honoring New York City's achievements.
[SOT, RABBI ALVIN MASS, CHIEF CHAPLAIN, NYPD]
“We are blessed to be residents of a city where crime is at an all time low and educational opportunity is at an all time high.”

The mayor and the chief were on the same page.
[SOT, BILL DE BLASIO, NYC MAYOR]
“They’re heroes. Extraordinary people—they’re heroes, like police officer Syed Ali—a combat veteran.

Patrolling the subway last month—single handedly held back a group of 5 assailants. And, as if that wasn’t enough, when one of them fell on the subway tracks, officer Ali saved his life.”
[VO]
During his speech, the mayor stopped to sign an executive order, creating a government office that can seize property from unlawful landlords.
[SOT, BILL DE BLASIO, NYC MAYOR]
“And we’ll get tough on the bad guys: when the city’s worst landlords cheat their tenants, we will take their buildings away from them.”

“My fellow New Yorkers, when a landlord tries to push out a tenant, by making their home unlivable, a team of inspectors, law enforcement agents will be on the ground in time to stop it.”
A detailed explanation of the new office was not given, nor an explanation on how cases between landlords and tenants will be investigated.

He did describe an unlawful landlord as someone who makes the tenant's home unlivable, and what qualifies as unlivable was not specified.

A severe dust storm hit a rural New South Wales town on Tuesday, turning the sky dark red and causing power outages for residents in the area.

Video shot from a family farm in the town of Barellan shows red dust blanketing the surroundings as trees jostle in the wind. "It got incredibly dark, it was as if it was 2 a.m. at night and someone had just thrown a blanket over the sun," Sally Lees, who filmed the video in the early afternoon, told Reuters.

More than 5,000 homes lost power in the area because of the storm, according to local news, though most had it restored by Tuesday night. Apart from Barellan, the towns of Temora and Ariah Park were also affected.

“Either we're going to win or make a compromise. I'm okay to making a compromise. Compromise is in my vocabulary very strongly. So we're either going to have a win, make a compromise -- because I think a compromise is a win for everybody."

Trump also said that he may not be going to Switzerland for the World Economic Forum later this month if the government remains partially closed. And later this afternoon he announced in a tweet that he had decided not to attend.

Soundbite:PO-65TH
if the shutdown continues, I won't go. I had planned to go. It's been very successful when I went. We have a great story to tell. We have the best job numbers we've ever had in many ways. Mitt Richards has some understanding of Chinese culture. As a former emergency medicine physician, he would have patients and now still has students whose parents only speak Chinese, so he is fluent in the language.

He said, he was in tears when seeing the traditional Chinese culture of 5,000 years brought to life on stage.

The presentation,
coupled with the music,

the timing was perfect, the music...
it stimulated the hearing.

The costumes,
the colors brought out the visual

and then the athleticism,
the movements that the grace

of the performers brought it all together
for a phenomenal, phenomenal show.

It was very heartwarming for me.

And on some of the stories
that are told through dance,

I actually, I teared up.
I cried, [‘ku le’ in Chinese], I cried.

Richards saw Shen Yun Performing Arts for the second time at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium at Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts on Jan. 6, and described the intensity of the experience afterward.

The intensity of the emotions and the belief
that they had when they would dance,

and this dealt with their own views on relationships,

and love and expression of spirituality.
All those things came out for me.

When that happens,

it usually isn’t very good, but in time,

Michigan family of 5 killed in wrong-way crash in Kentucky

A suspected drunken driver heading the wrong way on Interstate 75 in Kentucky struck a vehicle carrying five family members from Michigan early Sunday, killing all six people, authorities said.

The southbound pickup truck being driven in the northbound lanes struck the family's sport utility vehicle at 2:30 a.m. in Lexington. The SUV caught fire and all five occupants of that vehicle died, along with the pickup's driver, Lexington police said in a statement.

The family from Northville, Michigan, was returning from a vacation in Florida, the Fayette County coroner's office said.

A coroner's statement identified the family members as Issam Abbas, 42 and Rima Abbas, 38, along with their children, a boy Ali Abbas, 14; and girls Isabella Abbas, 13, and Giselle Abbas, 7.

The driver of the white pickup was identified as 41-year-old Joey Lee Bailey of Georgetown. The coroner's statement says authorities believe Bailey was driving under the influence and that toxicology tests were planned. The interstate was shut for hours as the accident investigation opened.

According to the Islamic Center of America of Dearborn, Michigan, funeral services for the family are set for Tuesday at the center.

[U.S. President Donald Trump]
I may declare a national emergency, depending on what is going to happen over the next few days.

President Donald Trump said on Jan. 6 he is considering whether to declare a national emergency in order to obtain funding for the U.S-Mexico border wall.

Vice President Mike Pence had planned to meet with congressional leaders on the afternoon of Jan. 6.

[U.S. President Donald Trump]
I don’t expect anything to happen at that meeting, nor does the vice president, but I think we’re going to have some very serious talks come Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.”

Democrats have refused to give in to Trump’s requested amount, committing only to their original offer of $1.3 billion for border security purposes that does not include any money for the border wall.

A national emergency declaration could bypass congressional approval as the shutdown—now in its 16th day—forges ahead.

Kanye West's First Twitter is about Trump

Kanye West sent out a series of new year’s tweets, some of which praised President Trump.
West also pledged to start wearing his MAGA hat again during performances.

West hasn’t mentioned Trump since he closed his previous Twitter account. But on New Year’s Day he renewed his support for Trump, and also tweeted “2024,” the year West previously said that he would run for president in.

The hat tweet is significant, since West was pressured in the past by his entertainment industry peers to take it off, but he refused and remained steadfast in his support for Trump.

Shen Yun Take Spartanburg Audience on Journey Through Chinese Culture

Jimmy Watt worked at radio stations in Clemson and Greenville before joining WYFF News 4 in May 2001 as a traffic reporter. He also worked as a public information officer for the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. Now he has accepted the job of news director at 94.1 The Lake WSNW in Seneca.

“The performance [was] wonderful. The talent is extremely talented. Obviously, the dancing is incredible,” said Watt. “I think just learning more about the culture, just overall, is what appeals to me in regards to what I’m seeing tonight. Learning more about the Chinese culture, about performing arts in China it’s just an amazing performance.”
Watt was talking about Shen Yun. He attended the performance at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium on Jan. 2.
“I’m not familiar with the Chinese culture, so this is something that’s kind of opened my eyes, it sure has,” Watt added. “It’s wide ranging. It’s colorful, it’s artful, obviously. The culture may be different even though it’s part of the same culture.”

China has a culture built on beliefs from Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism, and this tradition was recorded continuously over 5,000 years, until communism came. After decades of purge through the communist’s cultural revolution, there is renewed interest in China’s roots.

“First, I think that it’s a god, a deity of some type,” said Dennis Mooney, senior vice president at ADB Companies. “And I think again that the far east does that so elegantly. And then I think the happiness that you see not only physically in the way the actors and actresses presented themselves, but the colors and their clothes and things of that just made everything happy. I think it shows that you can have a spiritual enlightenment with people you may not understand, but you share a common entity whether it be a deity, or just how you should act in life. And I think that was one of the things the show brought out is doing the right thing.”

“And the deity or the gods, or the god, just that symbol of peace for all mankind, anything like that was just, I mean it’s amazing,” said Mooney.

we can't ignore the fact that this could've been preventable. And under (the) SB 54 in California (Senate Bill 54, which effectively makes California a 'sanctuary state' by legalising and standardising non-cooperation policies between state law enforcement and federal immigration authorities), based on two arrests for DUI and some other active warrants that this criminal has out there, law enforcement would've been prevented, prohibited, from sharing any information with ICE (the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement) about this criminal gang member. Ladies and gentlemen, this is not how you protect a community. This is not how you assure the people who live in our community, regardless of their ethnicity, their culture, their race, any of that, that they live in a safe community. Because there are people who want to exploit and victimise others. And in this case, officer Singh sacrificed everything, he paid the ultimate price, trying to protect and serve the people of Newman. We need to have a conversation about that."

Border Security: From the Caravans of 2018 to the Supreme Court in 2019

2018 is nearing its final days and the spotlight is on the wall. Over the year, the migrant caravan and the record number of family units crossing the border dominated the media.

Illegal activity on the southwest border has increased, and President Trump trying to patch the holes in the system, turned away by federal judges.

Even the already-fraught humanitarian crisis was injected with hysteria by major media outlets, in attempts to discredit Trump.

Like MSNBC using footage of border patrol—from the Obama administration—destroying containers of water left by humanitarians, and letting their viewers assume they’re current.
