Social Media Bosses Could Be Held Liable for Harmful Content

In a letter to social media giants last week, Health Secretary Matt Hancock wrote that social media sites should purge “self-harm content.” He wrote: “It is time for internet and social media providers to step up and purge this content once and for all.” It comes after growing public concern over the death of 14-year-old Molly Russell, whose father said Instagram and Pinterest contributed to her taking her own life.
