Bumped United passenger walks away with $10,000 voucher

Aurora Li
A United Airlines flight on March 22 from Washington, D.C. to Austin,Texas, was overbooked. United asked travelers to give up their seat in exchange for a voucher, but no one budged. Allison Preiss, a communications director from Washington, said she was picked to give up her seat. She asked for cash instead of a voucher, but instead they upped their voucher offer. She said she also got $20 in meal vouchers. Despite not being happy about having to get off her flight, she said it could have been much worse. Earlier this month, a United passenger lost her French bulldog after a flight attendant asked her to put it in the overhead bin. And last April, a United passenger was dragged off his flight by security officers after refusing to give up his seat.
