A man traveling from Mexico is being accused of bringing hydrofluorocarbons into the United States. The gas is commonly used in air conditioners and refrigerators, but was banned under the Biden administration. The man is now facing a maximum of 45 years in prison, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office issued a video saying this will likely be the first of many arrests under the new laws.
