Argentine navy rescues stranded U.S. scientists from Antarctica

On Sunday, Argentine Navy rescued a group of U.S. scientists stranded on Joinville Island in Antarctica. The group was stranded due to a "remarkable presence of ice", according to the Argentine Foreign Ministry. The Navy stepped in following a request for assistance from the U.S. Antarctic Program. The Navy deployed the icebreaker Almirante Irizar to the camp, and sent a helicopter to make the pick-up of the five scientists. All five scientists were found in good health. Credit: Reuters
