New discovery throws light on mystery of pyramids' construction

A team of researchers has gained greater insight into
how Egypt’s pyramids were constructed.
Archeologists have long believed that Egyptians built ramps
pyramids and had slaves drag huge stone blocks up the slopes.
A team of scientists from France and England found that the
method used was actually more advanced and more effective.
The ramps were not smooth, but stepped, the researchers
found, with post holes along the edges.
The researchers believe that the posts were used as pulleys.
That way teams of workers could push and pull from below
and pull from above the block of stone.
With more people working, moving each stone would be
easier, and the steps gave the workers time to rest.
