While Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg discussed moving forward with rebuilding of the Francis Scott Key Bridge at a Wednesday press briefing, he told reporters he was "concerned about the local economic impact" of the structure's collapse. Buttigieg also explained the bridge, built in the bridge, which was opened in 1977 was not built to withstand a collision with ships as large as the cargo vessel which ran into it early Tuesday morning.
