An Illinois police officer said he couldn’t believe it when he saw a toddler wandering into highway traffic while he was out on patrol several weeks ago. WGN-TV reported that Naperville Police Sergeant Anthony Mannino said he believed it was an animal at first, but noted that it was actually a toddler. The toddler had snuck away from his mother. Mannino used his police cruiser to block traffic on the road and grabbed the child. No charges were filed against the mother, and police said that it was an accident. Mannino received an award from the Naperville Police Department for his heroism.
