Dear friends, my students, my colleague Franck and I are very happy to show you our new video of Ruslan and Ludmila overture ! thanks to an idea of my friend Jacques Poullot 🙏✨We recorded this brilliantly energetic Glinka masterpiece in the same conditions than our last video of Candide, at home, with phones and headphones only. Based on a Pushkin poem, the opera was released in 1842, and the action is settled in pagan Russia, the beautiful Ludmila is wooed by three admirers and eventually won, after a healthy dose of sorcery both good and evil, by the fair knight Ruslan. The overture rapidly became a favorite curtain-raiser, the kind of bonbon that tends to begin seasons or serve as encore after a splendid evening.
