In this video we discuss circumstances which led to revolutionary decision of Japanese authorities to invest huge amounts of money and lots of efforts to construct world's first HIGH-SPEED RAILWAY LINE. It was supposed to make the elusive dream of HIGH-SPEED TRAVEL OF PASSENGERS USING THE RAILWAYS happen. And it DID!
The dream which made railways competitive (even with air traffic!) became reality when the world’s first high-speed railway line called SHINKANSEN, between TOKYO AND OSAKA, opened for traffic in autumn of 1964.
This is the story about WHY and HOW did this happen.
