ZCrew - The Early Years / 1988 & 1989 Fall Harvest

Today’s video covers fall harvest for the years of 1988 & 1989. In 1988, Jim helped my dad with a job near Ashland, Nebraska. The soybeans they are cutting were along the Salt Creek and had been flooded. The 1989 footage is all of dad and the job he was helping with near Greenwood, Nebraska. Grandpa and Grandma were there only because they enjoyed being a part of the action. I don’t remember if Grandpa had any involvement in the action or not. Jim was working for another farmer in the Ashland area. The same farmer he cut for over 30 years. At the end of the video, there’s quite a bit of footage of an evening that our little family went to visit the harvesters. It’s fun to see everyone together. Grandma had been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease several years prior. It was getting more difficult for her to talk and her speech is hard to sometimes understand.
